Wild has been selected as one of the top three short films in the UK at this years Stoke Your Fires Film Festival. The festival takes place between the 1-5th March in Stoke-on-Trent where the winner will be announced. Many thanks to the festival jury for picking Wild and fingers crossed it comes out on top!
Recently I caught up with Wild's art teacher, the actor Sam Spruell. He's almost completed filming 'Snow White and the Huntsman'. Sounds like an enormous production!
It's photographed by Grieg Fraser who did such an amazing job on 'Bright Star' and while it's probably aimed at the family demographic, I'll be going to my local multiplex to see Sam do battle with Thor - Chris Hemsworth plays the Huntsman - and to check out Greg Frasiers photography.
Sam has played a number of excellent and significant roles in British film and drama, along with some smaller parts in American features. Fingers crossed that this film brings his talents to the attention to the American film industry. He certainly brought some star dust to the set of 'Wild' which was much appreciated.
So we completed production on our first short last week. Still not entirely sure of what to make of it all. Stressful; challenging; of course, but the abiding feeling is how much fun it was. We assembled a great crew without whom it would have been impossible to make it happen. Our actors were a total delight, our extras patient and the weather exactly what was required. Even our untrained feline actor was exceptional. I'm still having sleepless nights worrying about whether I have the coverage for everything so the next few weeks will be fairly crucial in terms of establishing the shape of the film and seeing if it hangs together well. Will keep things updated here on the blog.
